Soap Envelope® is a Canadian brand of luxury soap accessories that elevate your bath routine. Our goal is to offer sustainable and practical solutions while pampering your skin and elevating your bathroom design.
Soap Envelope® was born in 2023 in London Ontario. We were working for years developing a sustainable, laundry-washable furnace filter that was truly zero waste (more on that here, at CycleAir.ca). This was designed with a 100% recycled, proprietary 3D mesh that was breathable and plush. The fabric was custom engineered, and rather than waste the off-cuts, we started to sew them into pockets for bar soap. Soon after at the kitchen table, Soap Envelope® Bar Soap Pouches were born.
What was meant to be a side product of a "double recycled" bar soap saver pouch, turned into a full line of luxury bath products. We are passionate about sustainability, and bar soap is the epitome of a back-to-basics sustainable bath routine (no plastic bottles to waste). Not only that; luxury, artisan soap is a nourishing way to pamper your skin. We felt it deserves an equally luxurious way to use, store, lather, exfoliate, and rest in your shower, around your sink or on the go.
Here we are making the first Soap Envelope® bar soap pouches in early 2023. A lot has happened since then, including outsourcing production to scale, and we're we're still committed to sustainable production, using 100% recycled fabrics that are GRS certified.
Soap Envelope® started as the biproduct of the offcuts of our washable furnace filters, and has since turned into a business of its own. We dove head-first into learning as much as we could about the newfound passion of natural soap so that we could offers a luxury experience for bar soap. Soap bars are inherently sustainable; over the last few decades, we as consumers have somehow shifted to body wash (in single-use plastic bottles) as our go-to cleanser for our bath routine. Bar soap is making a comeback, driven by natural ingredients and sustainability principles. The only problem? Many people miss the lathering and exfoliation that comes with a loofah pouf paired with body wash. This can sometimes be a barrier in switching to bar soap.
Enter the bar soap pouch by Soap Envelope®. It lathers beautifully, adds a layer of exfoliation, and allows your soap to dry while saving all those tiny soap bits. Originally we had one version "gentle exfoliation" pictured here:
Now we have several exfoliation levels and different colours to offer something for everyone.
From there we travelled to Bologna, Italy to participate in Cosmoprof Bologna, the world's largest beauty, skincare, and cosmetics tradeshow. Here we learned more about the category, how we can continue to innovate, and drive sustainable materials in every product we make.
Taking a hands-on approach, learning CAD design (via Sketchup), and designing what we think is one of the best soap dishes in the world. Our second product was born and launched January 2025 as our Soap Envelope® self-draining soap dish. We originally launched in 3 colours, and have since expanded to 6, this tray offers both style and functionality. Sustainably made of 100% BPA-free silicone, it won't shatter and cleans easy (it's even dishwasher safe!). It has a non-slip underside to stay put in the shower or around the sink, and lifts soap high-and-dry while allowing it to drain off and away. A dry soap bar is a happy soap bar!
We're rapidly expanding and innovating in the luxury bath accessories category. All of our products meet our mantra: 1) sustainable design, 2) aesthetics are as important as function, 3) always plastic-free packaging. All of our products are engineered in London Ontario Canada. Our packaging is all plastic-free, we choose sustainable materials, and develop products that encourage the use of reusables instead of single-use. All of our products are built to last. Our Soap Envelope® bar soap pouch is laundry-washable and dryer safe, to reuse over and over. Our silicone products are BPA-free and dishwasher safe for easy cleaning.
